THE Aberdeen Independence Movement (AIM) is a non-partisan, pro-independence group based in the North East of Scotland, making the local case for independence, prioritising issues that affect Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire in particular.

It’s time to kill off the GERS figures. They are nothing more than a political tool designed to be used by opponents of independence to rubbish Scotland’s economic prospects and to scare the public off the idea of Scottish independence by painting a false picture of a supposedly financial basket case of a country which […]

+LesleyRiddoch This is a potential future direction that our citizens should be made aware of and given the opportunity to support and participate in. The values , willingness to collaborate , patience to communicate and humble leadership demonstrated by Matthew Brown and Sarah Longlands is inspirational.
We have a unique opportunity with the Scottish government already heading in this direction. If we can inform and involve people in their own community halls, capture their interest in how they can have more influence in developing the wellbeing of themselves and their communities we can actually bring to life what living in an Independent Scotland could be like.
How can we articulate this in an engaging way for ordinary people in amongst the noise and challenges of their daily lives?

Nicola Sturgeon has announced a groundbreaking cooperation agreement between the SNP and the Scottish Greens, creating a majority in the Scottish Parliament for a transformative agenda as Scotland begins to rebuild after the pandemic.

+AUOB A complete lack of understanding of what is required to achieve Independence. Like Alex Salmond, AOUB have made a great contribution in the journey so far but are now out of touch and having a negative effect with ill thought out tactics which do not make the case for Independence with those yet to be convinced or support those who will campaign to do just that.

+BelieveInScotland This article tells it like it is. Important the YES movement realises Independence is not yet the settled will and that , whilst the SNP is doing their part , the YES movement has to join a conversation with our undecided and/or unengaged fellow citizens and inform and inspire them that Independence is in their best interests.
The SNP is building towards a majority for Independence by governing progressively in the intetests of the many people. They will enable the Regerendum we require but that will be much easier if the YES movement unites behind them to secure a majority government.
The key to inspiring our fellow citizens is to respond to the recommendations in the Citizens Assembly resport and detail how more of the needs of people in local areas can be realised with full fiscal and policy autonomy of an Independent government.

"If Scotland is to be a place to live a good life in a good society, we should take the lessons of mutual support groups and the new fluidity of governance offered by the pandemic upheaval. We’ve seen the power when people come together - when communities are shaped by us and for us, all done at a local level."The post Willie Sullivan: Only real local democracy can rebuild our communities...
