Due to today's tragic death of David Amess MP, our planned coffee morning tomorrow has been cancelled as a mark of respect.

Our thoughts are with David Amess's family and friends.
Blantyre SNP Coffee Morning.

We are holding a coffee morning on Saturday 16th October at 11am in the Blantyre Miners Welfare (Front Lounge) open to all SNP members and supporters.

Why not come along for a cuppa, a chat and meet your elected representatives.

Here is a message from Clare Haughey MSP

Please take care of yourselves.

The weather may not be great today but that doesn't put us off having a street stall.

Was great to have Clare Haughey MSP along to help us out.
We will have a Street Stall setup on Saturday 9th October at 10:30am, at the top of Stonefield Park (Opposite ASDA).

Why not pop along for chat with us out in the fresh air.
Proud to have voted in Parliament this evening for an increase to the Carer’s Allowance Supplement in December to recognise the additional pressure carers face as a result of the pandemic.

I’d like to thank all carers across Blantyre, Halfway, Cambuslang and Rutherglen who make an immense contribution to our society by caring for family, friends and neighbours 👏
👪 Families of more than 79,000 children are saving almost £5,000 per child a year thanks to The Scottish Government’s free Early Learning and Childcare places.

Since August, all three and four-year-olds and two-year-olds who need it most have been eligible for 1,140 hours of funded ELC.

As Children’s Minister, it’s clear to me that funded ELC is helping hard-pressed families.
We are immediately introducing a simple officer verification process to provide reassurance to any member of the public who may be concerned about whether or not they are being spoken to by a genuine police officer working alone.

The move follows the understandable public concern surrounding the horrendous murder of Sarah Everard.

Deputy Chief Constable Will Kerr says the onus is on the...

LFD test kits can be collected from outside Blantyre open area at pedestrian crossing (near Blantyre Leisure Centre), today (Tuesday 28 September) between 1pm and 4pm
📢 A new poll shows two-thirds of people in Scotland want a referendum in the current Holyrood term.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Scotland will have a referendum for recovery that will be built in Scotland for the people of Scotland, not Boris Johnson.

📸 Had the pleasure of visiting New Calderglen Care Home in Blantyre this morning to speak with some of their staff.

I was invited along to hear about their plans to change their existing care model to focus on developing and delivering drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
Looking for details on the SNP-Green co-operation agreement then this is the event for you.

Tomorrow night at 7pm there is an online discussion with more detail about what this agreement entails and to get feedback from members.
Today, the SNP Government has announced a hattrick of positive moves for Scotland:

🦷 From today, dental charges have been scrapped for young people aged under 26 – benefiting 600,000 young people
💻 We're delivering a £25 million investment to help businesses utilise digital technologies
🏥 Hospital parking charges in Scotland are being abolished for good - ending Labour's legacy of...
Delighted that we – the SNP – have reached a co-operation agreement with the Scottish Green Party.

This agreement is not a coalition, and both parties will maintain their distinctive and principled voices in Scottish politics. However, there is much we agree upon about the future we want for our country.

This agreement provides opportunities to address the challenges that we face,...
As Children’s Minister, I have welcomed an independent evaluation that shows parents overwhelmingly back Scotland’s Baby Box.

🧸 97% of parents felt very positive about the box’s contents
💳 91% of parents agree they saved money
📘 60% read with their child earlier because of books provided

With the Schools starting back soon it's good to remember that free school meals are to be extended for South Lanarkshire primary pupils this year.

These will be phased in over the coming year, with expansion for those in P4 starting after this year's summer break, followed by P5 in January 2022 and P6/P7 in August 2022.

👏 The wait is finally over, and it’s great to see the David Livingstone Birthplace open this morning.

Born in 1813 in Blantyre, David Livingstone spent 30 years exploring southern, central, and eastern Africa, often in places where no European had previously ventured.

The museum dedicated to the life of the famous explorer and missionary is looking brilliant and I’d encourage all to...
As Children’s Minister, I welcome legislation and guidance that comes into force today to protect sibling relationships for children in care.

The new regulations mean local authorities have a duty to ensure siblings are supported to stay together, where appropriate.

This is a milestone in The Scottish Government ’s commitment to #KeepthePromise to drive changes in how we care for...
