Energy Minister Claire Perry MP appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live on the 19th of December 2018, where she admitted live on air that she doesn't know how much Brexit funding her department receives.
She also claimed a no-deal Brexit would be 'unlikely' despite the UK Government amending all their technical notices to...

There is a harsh reality that SNP members might want to keep in mind should they choose to take George Kerevan's advice. While they are "reconsidering the party’s decision to join Nato after independence", they'd do well to remember that Scotland represents a considerable geopolitical asset. It is inevitable that the global powers - existing and aspiring - will compete for access to and control of this asset. If Scotland doesn't chose a side, then the choice will surely be made for us.

This Saturday, thousands of our folk will undertake a couple of miles stroll out to Bannockburn from Stirling, the next demonstration of the growing will and determination of higher numbers of the people of Scotland to take sovereignty back into their own hands and build a better future for themselves, their children, and future generations […]

Latest Survation poll not only support for independence slightly increasing, but remaining in the EU has had a massive lift in support:
Remain (68%)Leave (32%)
There's going to be a hard choice coming soon, for those that now back Remain. If independence is the only way back into the EU, will they take that chance?

I may not have written anything recently on this blog, given that I have been focussed entirely on writing my book “The Thistle,The Lion and The Unicorn” , but that doesn’t mean to say that I haven’t also been following … Continue reading →

Lot of talk today about the £ slumping due to possibility that #indyref2 will be called very soon.
It can't just be me that is irritated by the media obsession with the markets. Prime time news is filled with "lets look at how the FTSE did today" for example. Not every news story needs to be framed in the context of "did anyone make any money out of the latest rumour today?".
The fact that the £ fell might have more to do with the announcement that the Tory Government is due to call a halt to EU Freedom of Movement, which may result in skills shortages. I'd say that's more damaging.

We need this issue of "Independence = Out of EU" sorted before #indyref2.
These claims keep being made by Theresa May and those AGAINST independence. The whole reason for another referendum is because of being taken out of the EU so we can't afford this issue to remain muddled.

A very strange thing is happening between pro-indy people. Those that support RISE and Green are demanding that SNP voters should be critical of their own party, then insist that we should blindly give them our "second" vote based on the fact that they are also an independence supporting party.
Firstly, don't treat SNP voters as idiots. The SNP have proven to be a competent Government. On that basis alone people will want to give both votes to the SNP.
Second, does it not make more sense to give both votes to the SNP - the only party that will be able to form a majority - if your main issue is the goal of independence? Why should we vote RISE when splitting our votes away from the SNP could result in Labour/Tory also gaining seats?
Third, ever considered that people just might not LIKE your manifesto?? Is that too hard to comprehend? Not every SNP voter is radically left wing. Not every SNP voter will consider themselves a "socialist".
Campaign on your manifesto. If people like it, they'll vote for you. If not, they'll vote for someone else. We laughed at the Unionists and their tactical voting "wheel" last year, yet here you are attempting your own version of it.

Carmichael: The Saga Ends
And that, as they say, is that. Barring any unexpected developments, yesterday decision by Lady Paton and Lord Matthews on liabilities for legal expenses brings the Alistair Carmichael election petition saga to its conclusion. In the National this morning, I have a wee reflection on the whole enterprise, and its various twists and turns. An excerpt:"IT seems apt that the last act in the...
