@Coolcatspjs We may well see the local and national messages start to get very muddled, with people opting to vote for council candidates based on national manifestos. This will hard independents, but will be good news for the larger main parties. We'll probably be able to see a very direct comparison between how FPTP and STV elections produce different results based on similar voting intentions.

@Murchie @murchie Well the announcement of the snap GE kind of makes my question redundant now, surly this will give us a more accurate reading!

@Coolcatspjs I think we'll definitely see councils dominated by SNP although probably not a huge amount of outright control of councils, just due to voting and number of candidates put up in each ward.

I think the constitution is still polarising people, so I suspect that a large proportion will vote depending on if they are Yes or No to #indyref regardless of manifesto.
At the risk of sounding naive, do you think the results of the council elections give some idea of how scotland will vote In scotref? The SNP aren't pushing the independence issue in the run up to Mays elections but it's all opposition parties are talking about.

Imagine if there was another indyref with only the mainstream media to report it. Scary, isn't it?But that's exactly what we face. Of 40 newspapers in Scotland there's still only a single daily - with a tiny circulation of under 9,000 copies - that supports independence (along with one Sunday paper bought by less than 0.4% of the population).Without new-media outlets like Wings Over...
Just watched 'London calling' for the first time. I'd never really heard about it before but got it sent to me with an order of YES stuff. This documentary NEEDS to be promoted more for upcoming scotref. Incredable insight into the lengths the BBC went to to sabotage the 2014 referendum.
