Children and parents have been great at adjusting to all the changes of the last 18+ months- thought this is a good reminder of how different the school experience has been 💜

Welcome to Aberdeen, Afghan refugees. The situation in Afghanistan is truly horrifying. Thank you to Aberdeen Multicultural Society for organising this wonderful event. We must all keep doing what we can - whether that’s pressure on the UK Government, or supporting charitable efforts here.
It’s #BookshopDay! Celebrating by doing some work in one of my favourite places - Books and Beans #ChooseBookshops #shoplocal

Sadly no donation for me today - haemoglobin levels too low 😢 if you can, please do get along and donate. With the current pressures on our NHS I feel like it’s really important that they don’t have to worry about blood stock levels, and that will only happen if folk donate.

Smiley photo was taken before I had my levels tested!
Some universal credit myth busting, inspired by the comments here.

~40% of those getting universal credit are in work (I defy you to tell me that school cleaners, shelf stackers, carers don’t count as hard working)

~33% in Scotland of those getting universal credit are not expected to either work or look for work - because of disabilities or because they have very young children

🍽 Free school lunches will be rolled out to ALL primary school pupils from August 2022. They’ve already been introduced for pupils in P4 & P5.

❌ We believe that no child should be left hungry in school.

🍏 That’s why, as part of the Programme for Government, we will ensure that children have access to high-quality, nutritious food both in early learning settings and schools.

🏫 I’m pleased that new statistics show school buildings in Scotland are in their best condition since records began.

⬆️ 90% of schools were in good or satisfactory condition in April 2021, up from 61% in April 2007.
