"What is really depressing about today, the Autumn Statement that Jeremy Hunt will deliver, and the response we will get from Rachel Reeves, is the fact that all of them believe in the wholly artificial constraints that they impose on themselves so that government might fail to meet the needs of the people of this country. In no particular order these are:"  Read...
“We’re making the switch because the analogue network that most home phones work on today is no longer fit for purpose and can’t keep up with the demands of modern life. That outdated network will be switched off for all phone providers by 2025. This is a once in a generation upgrade to ensure that everyone stays connected now and into the future. It offers lots of benefits and improved...

Our dedicated team of indy activists were speaking to people in Dumfries town centre on 26 August about how they felt about climate change.  They were asking folk to put a dot on the board to indicate whether they thought our climate is safer in the hands of the Westminster government or whether it would be safer in an indy Scotland.  As you can see the answer was overwhelmingly against...

"The GERS figures for 2018/19 suggested the deficit in Scotland was £12.6bn, or a huge 7% of GDP, but Robin Thompson concluded that in reality an independent Scotland could inherit a surplus of £2.7bn."  Read on...https://weegingerdug

The Supreme Court will announce its decision on whether Scotland has the power to hold a referendum on independence or not.
On 29 October some stalwart members of Dumfries & Galloway Pensioners For Independence braved the rain to man a stall in Dumfries Town Centre.  We had a Dot Board asking members of the public to answer the question Should Scotland Be Independent?  You can see the result in the attached photo, but it was clear that a large majority thought it should. 97 (74%) chose Yes, 23 (18%)...
You are probably aware that the Scottish Government has referred to the UK Supreme Court, for a legal ruling, the issue of whether or not it would be lawful for the Scottish Government to hold another independence referendum without permission from the UK government. The highly thought of journalist and activist Lesley Riddoch has launched a campaign to hold an event on the day the Supreme...
Almost (but not quite) beyond belief. The arch unionist Murdo Fraser MSP spills the beans on why Westminster is desperate not to lose Scotland. Please share and, if you can bear it, watch and listen to Mr Fraser.https://newsnet.scot
Independence in the modern world. Wealthier, happier, fairer: why not Scotland? This paper sets out a detailed analysis of the UK’s performance across a range of economic and social indicators relative to that of ten European countries. It is the first in the 'Building a new Scotland' series, focusing on independence. Download links to the paper are embedded in the article in the top right...
We all know that electricity prices will rise massively. This will have a disproportionate effect on older people like me, and other  less well off individuals, eg the unemployed and the low waged. But it will also have an effect on the economy due to higher utility costs for businesses. It is estimated that rises in costs of over 100% will not be uncommon. We call on Government to take...
"Since the Conservatives are once again trying to scare Scottish pensioners with the threat that they would lose their state pension if Scotland votes for independence, it’s worth revisiting the pensions question....""What is clear is that under no circumstances will an independent Scotland be expecting “English taxpayers” to foot the bill for Scottish pensions, and that state pensions will...
"Scotland can effectively force the UK to disarm. Scotland, as an independent country, could start a domino effect amongst the nuclear-armed states. Not only could independence mean that nuclear weapons are no longer housed in Scotland, but Scots could also have a major impact on disarmament efforts worldwide."https://bellacaledonia.org.uk
The short answer is very little or none.  Professor Murphy's answer is slighly longer, but well worth the read.https://www.taxresearch.org.uk
